Most Comfortable Pole Dancing Shoes

Tuesday, March 14, 2017 11:49:40 AM America/Los_Angeles

What pole dancer doesn't like to pole dance in platform heels? Let’s be honest, even if you are the poler that prefers practicing barefoot, don’t you love to put on those 6”,7” or 8” pole heels from time to time? Yeah, I know, many claim that their feet hurt after wearing them for while and that their pole shoes are not so comfortable and they can’t dance or walk around in them for too long. Well ladies and gentlemen, we have a solution for you!

Pole Dancing and Sweaty Hands

Saturday, October 1, 2016 12:47:13 PM America/Los_Angeles

Some of my favorite classes to teach as a pole dancing instructor are the beginners. It's intoxicating to see the smiles on my new students' faces when they achieve their first pole goals and I would do anything to help them. Pole beginners have so many valid questions about our sport. Here is one I keep hearing over and over:

“I just started pole dancing and I enjoy it very much, but my hands are sweating so much. Is there anything I can do to prevent that?”

As an 11-year breast cancer survivor, Michelle knows the importance dance and fitness has played in her own life. Even though Michelle continues her battle with this deadly disease, she doesn’t stop wanting to do her part to help others maximize their physical well-being; nor does she let it slow her down.

When POLE is the elephant in the room

Saturday, September 5, 2015 12:32:05 PM America/Los_Angeles

It's unfortunate that pole dancing still has a huge stigma. I don't even realize it anymore. I am the lucky one who can talk about it openly with my family, friends and clients and since I am in the fitness field people tend to believe me when I say pole dancing is a form of fitness. I still get a few giggles from guys who I am sure picture a strip club when they hear "pole", and I still get a few judgmental looks from women who perceive it as something dirty, but mostly, people are starting to respect it as a sport. At least in the metropolitan areas people have heard by now about pole fitness competitions and championships that are being held all over the world and are realizing that pole dancing is an aerial art and a serious sport. But it can still be the elephant in the room.Read More

Why my pole friends are my best friends

Tuesday, June 16, 2015 6:29:51 PM America/Los_Angeles

I took my first pole dancing class about 5 years ago and I instantly fell in love. I fell in love with the sport, with the freedom that I felt while I was dancing and with the women I met at the studio. I was a newcomer and a little apprehensive at first. Not knowing what to expect, I just focused on trying to keep up with the class. There were other beginners in the class and we actually cheered each other on, I never felt any judgement. The instructor was very patient and supportive. It was empowering to experience the hard work of pole dancing and it was humbling to meet all the other women who were there getting an amazing workout, while letting go of all the preconceptions of what society was expecting them to be and just being themselves. I fell in love with how pole fitness made me feel and I found some of my best friends.

Today I am a pole dancing instructor and my pole girls are still my best friends. I don’t need to dress up, put on my jewelry, put on makeup and make my hair when I do to see them. We get together, strip to our tiniest pole shorts and sports bras, put on our pole dancing shoes and start sweating. We feel pain together (and anybody who has ever pole danced understands that). We spot each other in the craziest, scariest tricks, we have each others “backs”, literally and figuratively. We get silly when we are together, we support each other, cheer for each other and go through the toughest times of our lives together. We are not afraid to be vulnerable in front of each other, and that’s what it comes down to. I love my pole girls. Yes, pole dancing has changed my life. I am thankful for all the beautiful souls that I have met over the years.

I wish all women out there had the courage to experience what pole dancing is about, not just as a sport, but as a community . Ladies, don’t be afraid to enter a pole dancing studio. It will change your life for the better!

How Pole Dancing Beats Yoga and Pilates – Hands Down!

Friday, January 23, 2015 8:02:18 AM America/Los_Angeles

Looking for a sexy new workout? Wondering what sets pole fitness apart? After all, wouldn't yoga or Pilates be just as good?

The answer: No! Pole dancing is a far more strenuous and beneficial discipline than either yoga or Pilates, and here's why:

* Pole dancers, unlike Yoga advocates and Pilates acolytes, gain far more upper body strength and core strength. They can literally support their body weight with just one limb!

* Pole fitness works out leg and arm muscles you just don't reach with yoga and Pilates. Polers can risk becoming lopsided, however, so make sure you work your weak side as well as your leading side!

* Pole dancing class is a way to meet people and share styles, as well as providing a great workout. Pilates and yoga tend to be quiet and solitary - even if you are in a group.

* Pole dancing lets you be creative. With yoga and Pilates, you have your workout all laid out for you. With pole fitness, you get to create your own workouts, and add your own style and flair to each move!

* Polers get the best outfits. Let's be honest - yoga pants or a PIlates top isn't all that sexy when you compare it to the awesome outfits you get to create and wear for your pole dance competitions!

* Pole dancing is a competitive sport, and could soon be in the Olympics! (Can you say "Poleympics"? We can!) You won't see yoga or Pilates being included any time soon.

Beside of all these other reasons, Poling is also a way to feel sexy and empowered, totally in control of your body, yet creating something beautiful. You certainly won't get bruises, skinned hands and all the other travails that pole fitness lovers do, but you also will never get the rush from completing a yoga or Pilates move that you will when you master your first fireman spin on the pole! Forget about tame exercise routines, and look for a pole-dancing class near you today.
